Is the i.Mx RT-1064 compatible to IS42S16400J and IS45S16400J RAM?

Hi,

We plan using of RAM IS42S16400J or IS45S16400J in our new project instead of RAM IS42S16160J-6BLI assembled into the NXP i.Mx1064 evaluation board (EVB).

RAM in EVB works Ok, but RAM in our project board doesn’t response.

It looks like our RAM shell be SW-configurated differently, not like the RAM in EVB.

Would you like to help us to solve a problem?

Hi Edwin,

The HW implementation of RAM RAM IS42S16400J or IS45S16400J is the same as for RAM IS42S16160J-6BLI assembled into the NXP i.Mx1064 evaluation board (EVB).

I’m afraid the configuration is not the same for the new memories, with respect to the conventional IS42S16160J-6BLI, since this one is 256Mb, while the other two memories you are trying to use are 64Mb. You will have to change the base register BR0, as well as the column register bit COL8 to adjust for the memory size difference between the memories.

Hi Edwin, 

We have used normal IS42S16160J-6BLI in the EVB works.

Our project has been built in MCU-Expresso, so the source files of configurating and driver should be compatible to MCU Expresso.

Of course. Could you provide more information?

Also, when you mention that the RAM in the EVB works, you mean both of your alternative RAMs? Or the normal IS42S16160J-6BLI?
