i.MXRT1170: We want to drive larger LCD's with (>=1280 width) this uC.
What is the max. resolution of the LCD controller?
We need external RAM for that. SDRAM is slow. What is the max external BusClk?
What is the fastest external RAM possible, e.g. 32MB?
A 1GHz uC is useless without fast & enough memory.
Hi Peter,
RT1170 max. resolution is WXGA 1280x800
RT1170 has 8/16/32-bit SDRAM controller up to 200MHz. I don't know max SDRAM size can RT1170 support. But I'm sure even RT1060 max. SDRAM size is far beyond 32MB.

Peter,
I have the same questions for NXP as well. I speculate that the RT1170 will support a 32-bit SDRAM bus at up to 166 MHz, with a peak bandwidth of 5.3 Gbit/sec. With a 32-bit interface, you could use two 16Mx16 devices such as Winbond W9825 (< $1 USD) to get 64 MB. 1920x1080x24bit takes about 3.6Gbit/sec peak, 3Gbit/sec average, so there is enough bandwidth to drive such a display, but there will be little bandwidth left to update the screen. Therefore it seems unlikely that the RT1170 will support such a high resolution, at least not with 24-bit color.

Have you taken a look at Hyperram?
