fsl-image-gui has no GUI on iMX 6UL?

Hi,

We've built the Yocto warrior for iMX 6UL in 'fsl-image-gui' configuration which by definition form 'Freescale Yocto Project User's Guide' is expected to build a "Freescale image with a GUI without any Qt content" but what we seen is a terminal console (image attached) similar to the one produced by 'core-image-full-cmdline'. The only difference is that 'fsl-image-gui' shows a OpenEmbedded splash screen while booting on the connected LCD8000-43T.

It'll be very helpful if someone could point out the issue, or the steps needed to be followed to get a proper GUI.

Thanks in advance.

The i.MX6UL do not have GPU, you can try this https://community.nxp.com/docs/DOC-333580

Hi Kanimozhi Thangappan ,

The default image build for imx6ULL with GUI has matchbox utility to display the various applications on GUI. The default application that runs is console, which is you see Linux console on LCD. You can play video and run the GUI application which will be displayed on the LCD.

You can also try to add QT to build QT applications and display on LCD as suggested by Rita in the above comment.
