WHY DOESN'T I.MX28 EVK INCLUDE USB PORT TRANSIENT SUPPRESSORS?

Hi, I have a question can be irrelevant to developement.

I.MX28 EVK's USB port looks like it does not have protection ICs. So I want to know whether I.MX28 has some internal protection circuits or user has to design for that?

Thank you.

From the design :

“There is no need for ESD protection on the USB D+/D- signals. The ESD performance is somewhat
dependent on the customer’s PCB design. A good strategy is to add a population option for
a single TVS diode on each data signal line (not populated by default) so as not to compromise
the differential pair layout of USB D+/D-. If, after ESD testing, it is determined the TVS diodes are
necessary, they can be added to the production board. ESD protection should be added on the USB_5V
and USB_ID signal lines.”

Have a great day,
Yuri
