I'm using the u-boot bootsplash but is lousy as no kernel loading iteraction is possible:
-no loading scrolling bar
-boot console must be totally hidden or totally shown
On x86 systems i used some years ago a bootsplash composed by scripts and kernel driver, it worked perfectly, because it was possible to press ESC key to show the underlying console and also to send to /dev/splash a message or the progressbar status.
Somebody is using similar system?
If not i will try a porting of that (it was running on LFS).
Best Regards

These features are provided by a separate splashutils package which is a set of userspace scripts and kernel patches, however this package is not maintained by FSL.
