Poor performance with chromium in Krogoth on imx6d (Cortex-A9 Core)

Hello,

I have build an image for the Variscite Board VarSOLOCustum Board with YOCTO
(Krogoth) and added the chromium recipe (meta-browser).

When I started the chromium browser on the target platform, I have a very poor performance.
It seems, that hardware-acceleration is not enabled. But when i take a look at chrome://gpu

chromium tells me, that it still is.

Chromium is started with the following arguments:
--use-gl=egl
--gpu-no-context-lost

--ignore-gpu-blacklist

If you need further informations, plaese let me know.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thank you
Oliver

I completed a Yocto build using Krogoth and the chromium-imx recipe. I also have chrome://gpu reporting video acceleration but playback is very choppy.

[EDIT] This is for a wandboard-solo application.

Chromium command line options used:

   --ignore-gpu-blacklist

   --enable-gpu

   --usegl-egl

--incognito [chromium crashes repeatedly without running in incognito]

Chrome version 48.0.2548.0 [as per chromium-imx recipe]

Any further questions or suggestions are appreciated.

Hello Oliver Reinert,

Please look at section 5.6.6 of the Yocto User’s Guide for the L4.1.15 BSP Release, where there is more information on how to run the Chromium Browser with GPU hardware. It does require some additional layers and requirements.

You can find the documentation bundle for the 4.1.15 BSP Release on the link below (you may need to login to download this file)

https://www.nxp.com/webapp/Download?colCode=L4.1.15_1.1.0_LINUX_DOCS

I hope this helps!

Regards,
