How to mount encrypted ROOTFS during kernel boot

Hi,

What is the best/simplest way to mount encrypted ROOTFS partition during kernel boot?

I have followed  "i.MX Encrypted Storage Using CAAM Secure Keys AN12714" document and I'm able to encrypt my ROOTFS but when I reboot my board ROOTFS needs to be unlocked so that kernel can mount that partition.

I have seen that people are using initramfs to perform partition unlocking and I wounder it that is the only way?

For encrypting I'm using  CAAM/DM-Crypt.

Hope someone can help me with my question.

Best regards,

Adde
