Hello,

About the NXP WIFI/BT Combo products, especially 88W9098>

Is it possible to independently turn on/off WIFI and BT in both H/W and S/W?

How to individually select on/off either WiFi or Bluetooth.

1) During individual off of WiFi/BT, the current consumption value should also be reduced as much as the off portion.

2) Please check if there is a way to independently turn on/off WIFI and BT in both H/W and S/W.

Regards/I.S

Hello Weidong,

Always thank you for your support.

Well understood.

I have one more question about power consumption.

Actually, my customer will not use the WiFi function so often, just mainly use the BT function in his mobile printer.

In this case, to get the lowest power consumption, should I unload the wifi module/FW  or just go sleep mode ? which one is the better option?

Regards,

I.S

Hello @isyu ,

You can only use Bluetooth firmware , not use combo version.

Hello @weidong_sun ,

Thank you for your answer.

Yes, for individual usage on WiFi and BT, I will use BT firmware and WiFi firmware individually, will not use the combo version.

My question was which one uses the lower power consumption between the power save mode in WiFi and unloading the WiFi driver/FW.

In my understanding, unloading the WiFi driver/FW is a better solution. Am I correct?

According to above description, the customer will not use the WiFi function so often, it means that there still exists possiblity for her to use WiFi , so I suggest that she had better use combo version of firmware.

when using wifi, she only needs to let it up, if not, let it down.

Have a good day!

In the 88W9098, I can find the below information regarding Power Management.

Power management
Low-power dissipation
Integrated Buck regulator for core power supply
Sleep and standby modes for low-power operation
Separate power island for independent enable/disable of Bluetooth radio

It seems that the WIFI and BT block power can be controlled independently.

But there's only one Power Down pin in Hardware (PDn).

(there are no separate WIFI Power-Down and BT Power-Down Pin)
