S32K116 mini system hardware design

Hi, I am new to S32K family. If I want to design a minimum hardware board for S32K116, is there an example circuit design to look at? Can I omit the external crystal? Which are the necessary external components needed for such mini system? I only need CAN and UART controller working.

Hi Thalassa,

You can refer: UCANS32K146 development system – Schematics ^{(REV 1 )} 

For UART part, you can refer:S32K116EVB Evaluation Board – Schematics ^{(REV 0 )} 

Can I omit the external crystal?
Not recommend. "The oscillator clock should be selected whenever a tight tolerance (up to 0.1%) is required in the CAN bus timing. The crystal oscillator clock has better jitter performance than the peripheral clock."
