Dear sirs,
I got S32K118EVB2-Q048 from Digi-Key this week and tried to run sample application(hello_world_s32k118) with PEmicro debugger(built-in OpenSDA) to check if the EVB is fine. Things were not going well and got errors as
Info of environment:
OS: Windows 10 21H1
S32 Design Studio for S32 Platform Version: 3.4
S32 Design Studio S32K1XX SDK RTM 4.0.2
SDA_info ( is it ok of wrong board name?
Windows Device Manager:
EVB is powered by USB and 3 leds were all on(D1:red, D2/D3:green) after powered.
Could anyone give some suggestion for this issue ? Thanks in advance.

Hi
Please try to use P&E Recovery Utility halt MCU by refer Recovering Cortex-M Microcontroller with a Power Glitch.
J16(external power) can be used to power cycling your board.(connect Pin1-2 of J107)
After halt the MCU, you should be able to debug it.
Best Regards,
Robin

Hi @Robin_Shen,
I don't understand:
"J16(external power) can be used to power cycling your board.(connect Pin1-2 of J107)
After halt the MCU, you should be able to debug it."
can you explain more clearly?
Unplug J16 to power off the S32K118. Plug in J16 to power on the S32K118.
Keep OpenSDA or external Multilink powered. Repeat the above steps several times, and the MCU may be halted when J16 is plug in.
Dear Robin,
Thanks for your prompt support and this method unbricks my EVB.
BTW, it only works under MCU voltage 5v. (connect Pin2-3 of J10)
If MCU voltage is set to 3.3v, P&E Recovery Utility would never halt the processor even EVB is unbricked now. (It was shipped with Pin1-2 connected of J10)
I don't know if this behavior is ok or there is still something abnormal of my EVB.
best regards,
I cannot reproduce the problem you mentioned here.
I am using S32K118EVB-Q064 SCH-29945 REV. B.
The Application Version is: 1.23
J10 pin1-2
J107 pin1-2
J104 pin1-2
Maybe you can try to update OpenSDA Firmware.(Pemicro_OpenSDA_Debug_MSD_Update_Apps_2020_05_12\MSD-DEBUG-S32K118EVB-Q064_Pemicro_v123.SDA)
Dear Robin,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I had updated firmware of OpenSDA to v1.23 but MCU voltage3.3v still didn't work.
My EVB is S32K118EVB2-Q048 (48pin)
Is it the same with yours? Thank you.
Sorry. I did not notice that your board is different from mine. Currently I don’t have S32K118EVB2-Q048 (48pin), so I can’t test it.
From the schematic, there are some changes in the power supply part, which may be caused by the difference.
@Robin_Shen May I request the schematic of S32K118EVB2-Q048 you mentioned because I couldn't find it at NXP's web site. Thank you.
