Hey,

I was wondering if anyone had successfully programmed the TWR-S12GN32 board using the 6 pin BDM port? This is my first time working with a Freescale microprocessor and ultimately need to be able to program an S12GN32 on a custom PCB design which won't have a built in programmer. I can program this board just fine using the OSBDM over USB connection but can't connect using a Multilink programmer and CodeWarrior 5.1, if anybody had some advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Anthony

I have solved the problem.

Turns out that there is a firmware update for the Multilink Universal as well as a patch for the Multilink-12 which you have to ask P&E for in order to get. Also in order to use the external programming port the board must be powered in some way other then through the USB connection. I hope this helps anyone else who has this problem.

Best Regards,

Anthony

Hello Anthony,

Please check:

1. you need have external power supply to the board. make sure you adjust the jumper to external power supply.

2. are both of leds on BDM Multilink on when connecting the board?

3. when connecting the board, check the device manager,  does the BDM driver appear normal?

3. what's the error message when connecting board?

Thank you for your response,

1. I do have external power to the board. According to the manual provided with the board it needs between 7 and 27 volts to E1 and E2 so I connected it to a 12 volt supply. The jumper at J4 is also set to 5-6 and the power LED comes on when I flip the switch.

2. Both LEDs do come on when I connect the BDM Multilink and power the board.

3. Yes the driver seems to be working using the Jungo driver that was installed with CodeWarrior.

4. "Error while loading diagnostics algorithm to target system. The chip may be secured, or the derivative selected may be wrong." However I have tried to unlock it with P&E's unsecure12 program which reports that the chip is unlocked, furthermore I can program the chip using the OSBDM USB connection.

I'm really at a lost as to why this is not working as I would expect something like this to more or less just work out of the box with the supplied software. I had to attach header pins to "optional BDM Connector" and the power pins, does anyone who has worked with this board know if there are any other parts that need to be populated?

Thanks again for your response and I look forward to any other help the community can give me

Regards,

Anthony
