Hi Dear Colleagues,

My customer has a question about S912XET256's part number:

S912XET256BMAA and S912XET256W1MAA have different firmware versions, S912XET256BMAA is firmware_revB + Version ID - 0x0004, S912XET256W1MAA is firmware_revA + Version ID - 0xFFFF, are the devices with the 2 PN Pin-to-Pin?

Dear Weo Wang,
yes you are right, but I must to return to my first answer.

The ("firmware" ~  mask set ~ internal configuration ~  .....) relates to an errata list which I directed you to in the frevious response.
So it is necessary to check the errata list whether it does not affect your application and if not then these devices a are replaceable directly also from your application SW point of view.
In the previous answer I also mentioned mask sets the devices have.

"

S912XET256BMAA is a mask set 2M53J … the common mask set code “B” in the part number
S912XET256W1MAA is a mask set 1N36H … the mask set code “W1” in the part number
The devices are fully and directly replaceable with respect of errata list which is presented at the site

Hi,
I am sorry for delay because of my absence at work.

I do not understand. There is no firmware version in the MCU. The is no SW inside it. Could you please direct me what is hidden behind the term “firmware” in the connection to this MCU?
Best regards,
Ladislav

Hi Ladislav,

Thanks for the reply, the reason why the customer mentioned "firmware" is here:

WeoWang_0-1695368618253.png

Because my customer is using that to replace S912XET256BMAA with S912XET256W1MAA, they concern about the differences between the so-called "firmware". But to my understanding, this firmware is used during the chip's manufacturing process(mask or something), so the users don't need to care about it.

Hi Ladislav,

Thank you for your reply, in my understanding, S912XET256BMAA's B and S912XET256W1MAA's W1 stand for the models of mask set, but my customers still have questions, they notice that there are different firmware versions, what are the differences between these versions? Do S912XET256BMAA and S912XET256W1MAA have the same version? Or users don't need to care about the firmware version? Thanks a lot.
