P3041 grounds

Hello All,

I'm developing a 16 layer board with the 3041 processor. I've seen a reference board that connects all the grounds of the P3041, analog and digital, in one ground, that is, does not distinguish which are analog grounds and which are digital grounds. The P3041 datasheet does not suggest any ground architecture. Do anyone knows if that kind of layout works fine?

Thanks

Yes, it works fine. The P3041 is mostly a "digital" device, it has a few "analog" supplies that are used to power on-chip PLL circuits. We recommend to use common GND plane for all GND pins including AGND ones, and use filter circuits for AVDD signals. Each circuit must be placed as close as possible to the specific AVDD pins. More details can be found in the P3041 HW specifications, section 3.3.1 "PLL Power Supply Filtering".
