I want to know what the rectangle copper within the Antenna area used for. this copper area is neither GND nor other nets, it is independent. Do I also need to place a copper region like this in my design?

Hi @herbert ,
actually it is even worse then just a decoration. It de-tunes and loads the antenna slightly to 'simulate' a real-world scenario with other metals around.
Why it has been choosen todo so I dont know. But if you look into our antenna design guides and follow them you should get a pretty good result.
In addition maybe this is helpful as well: https://www.nxp.com/products/rfid-nfc/nfc-hf/nfc-readers/nfc-antenna-design-hub:NFC-ANTENNA-DESIGN-T...

Dear @AlexanderB
Now I am clear. Thank you.
Hi @herbert ,
no, you don't need to. It is only there to have a more realistic antenna on the development board instead of a best-case lab antenna.
For every NFC Front-End and Controller we have dedicated Antenna Design Guides at the documentation sector. For the PN7462 you should have a look into this one: https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/application-note/AN11706.pdf

Dear @AlexanderB ,
Thanks for you reply, now I knew I don't have to add this copper in my design.
But regarding to your explanation, I still don't very understand. Are you meaning the copper inside the antenna is just a decoration? So it has nothing helpful for the antenna's performance?
please help to clear my doubt, thanks in advance.
