I need use CLRC663 to operate contactless module, but the  contactless module no any coil .We should use contactless   reader's   antenna to  contact  contactless module connection, how I can design the  antenna part?

NOTE: The contactless    reader can operate  contactless module by coil.

thank you!

Hi Song,

You may use CLRC663 with directly matched antenna (close to CLRC663 chip). Just need to design the antenna. There are few of NXP application notes for doing so.

If your antenna needs to be remote to the CLRC663 chip the design needs to have remote antenna. Totally different antenna design. What standard of NFC communication do you need to design to? NFC or EMVCo?

Hi  Slavek Przepioski:

Thanks for you answer! My antenna needs to be remote to the CLRC663 chip.Currently,I use coaxial cable to connect to contactless module.Whether I should add power amplifier to drive contactless module? Can you give me some application notes?

Hi Song,

The remote antenna design may follow few basic rules.

The chain of connection will look below:

transceiver (CLRC663) <> matching to cable <> cable <> matching to antenna <> antenna.

Depending on the requirements of the standard (NFC vs. EMVCo), distance from the remote antenna

and antenna size(s) the solution can be with or without an amplifier.

There are no amplifiers note for remote NFC antennas that I can send

and there are so many factors to consider that the solution can vary widely.

The factors to consider are:

1. The standard and the filed strength required for it

2. Antenna size as from above and/or mechanical requirement

3. The cable type and its length

4. The transceiver configuration as non- or -symmetrical

Then you may decide if the amplifier is needed at all.
