Hi,

I have a ls1046a carrier board and would like to use QSPI_B (used as SPI, i.e., only QSPI_B_SCK, QSPI_B_DATA0 and QSPI_B_DATA1 are used) to connect mcp2518fd(spi to can controller).

Please see the changes I made below in fsl-ls1046a-rdb.dts.

&qspi {
	status = "okay";

// added by Yen for mcp2518fd
        can0@2 {
		compatible = "microchip,mcp2518fd";
		reg = <2>;
		clocks = <&mcp2518fd_osc>;
		spi-max-frequency = <20000000>;
		interrupt-parent = <&gpio0>;
		interrupts = <27 IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_LOW>; // Change to IRQ07/GPIO1_27, IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_LOW/IRQ_TYPE_EDGE_FALLING
		vdd-supply = <&sb_3v3>;
		xceiver-supply = <&sb_5v0>;
        };
////
};

It seems like the code didn't run spi_controller_initialize_queue() and the reason is ctlr->transfer_one and  ctlr->transfer_one_message are both NULL, but I don't know how to cofigure it.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thx

Yen

Can you share your schematics with us and all the dts files (dtsi, dts)? From the log, mcp2518 is not processed at all. What happens if you remove the whole cmp2518 section from dts file? Does your system still complete the linux boot-up?

Hi,

1.schematics

01.png02.png03.png04.png

2.dts are attached

3.Yes, mcp2518 is not processed at all, it crashed due to a NULL pointer, I guess the reason is spi-fsl-qspi.c doesn't have function transfer_one() and transfer_one_message() .

4.The system can boot-up completely if I remove mcp2518 section from dts file.

Could you confirm is there missing transfer_one() and transfer_one_message() in spi-fsl-qspi.c?

Thx

I do not see qSPI_B_CS0 and qSPI_B_CS1 are connected to anywhere. You cannot use qSPI_B if the Chip select pin is not connected. You cannot use qSPI_A_CS1 either for the same reason.
For QSPI_B_SCK, the pull-down resistor is only needed during POR phase. you may need to disconnect it during normal operation if you want to use qSPI_B.

Hi,

OK, I will pass this information to our hardware engineer.

You cannot use qSPI_B if the Chip select pin is not connected.

But the software issue still exist, the system can't boot-up completely if I add mcp2518 sction into dts file.

Could you confirm if there is missing transfer_one() and transfer_one_message() in spi-fsl-qspi.c?

Thx

I am not sure what you want to confirm. qSPI is able to work in 1-bit, 2-bit, and 4-bit mode. qSPI is a 1.8V interface. Its driver does not deal with the voltage related translation. I do not know what purpose of put supply in your dts file. Please refer qspi section in arch/arm/dts/fsl-ls1046a-rdb.dts.
Without hardware connection, software is deem to fail. It is the correct behavior if you add mcp2518 to dts file.
