We intend to use NXP’s MK60DN512VLL10R MCU in a new product. Can we leave pins 12 (VOUT33) & 13 (VREGIN) disconnected(floating). We do not intend to use USB power. Also, the datasheet states that pin 12 should/must have a capacitor attached. But, it can’t be more than 8.16uF. We are shipping product with 10uF on this pin. What kind of problems could this cause?

Hi Mark,

If you don't  use USB, both VOUT33 and VREGIN should tie to output and ground through 10k resistor. If you still need USB but not use VOUT33, you can refer to https://community.nxp.com/message/965047?commentID=965047#comment-965047

If you don't use USB, VOUT33 connect with a 10uF cap will not cause any problem.

But if you still use USB, the above link will give you some answer too.

Jing

Hi Jing,

So this note from the product literature is no longer correct?

Thanks,

Hi,

Yes, this is noted on the reference manual. Then floating those pins please. May other kinetis device datasheet says tie to ground via 10k resistor, like k22 and k64.

Jing
