The MCF52211 Reference Manual specifies the following USB tranceiver pins: USP_DM, USB_DP and USB_DMI, USB_DPI. what is the difference between these two sets of pins? The USB_DMI & USB_DPI pins are shared with the UART2 TX and RX pins. Are these an alternative set of USB tranceiver pins? If this is the case, how does one specify which set of tranceiver pins to use?

Hi Michael:

USB_DM and USB_DP are the only pins needed for a direct connection to a USB connector (type A and B). In case you're interested in an external usb phy (not using phy-on-chip), which I don't think so, those other lines are used for. Seeing m52210demo board schematic would help to understand this.

If you have further questions, please let me know.

Hi,
Use the USB_DM & USB_DP dedicated pins.  I'm actually not sure what the USB_DPI / USB_DMI are, however I know that for basic operation you should use the USB_DM & DP pins.  I will look into it the others.

Thanks,
Mac
