CCS and DDRv validation can only connect as root, not as regular Linux user

Hello!

When I try to use the DDR validation tool under Linux I can't get any target connection when running CodeWarrior as a regular Linux user. It only works if I run CW as root. A similar symptom occurs when trying to access the CCS server console. I can't issue any command when running as a regular user, but it works fine when running as root.

Could anyone help me with this issue?

I guess it's related to Linux (udev) permissions. I tried everything I know, from reinstalling the CW software, the USB script udev rules, etc. My OS is Ubuntu 14.04.1.

Regards,

Tiago.

From installation wizard you can set the installation path to be in your user home. Installing in /opt/Freescale sudo is necessary to be used when starting CW.

Do you install as root, or as regular user with sudo permissions?

I've tried both methods. None worked for me.

No way. After installing in home folder I still not able to connect to target as a regular user. Only works when running as root.

Try installing CW as regular user in user home.

Installer says that I must be logged as root to proceed...

Sudo rights are necessary for installing the dependencies and USB drivers. Try to use regular user, but using sudo ./setuplinux.sh (gksudo`/`gksu ./setuplinux.sh for graphical mode).

Still installing at '/opt/Freescale' with root credentials.

It doesn't even start the installer.

Sorry, my mistake. I was running 'setuplinux.sh' instead of 'setuplinux'.
