Hi,
I was running fine with the codewarrior debugger on my target board having MC9S12xDP512 part till today.
But suddenly, today, on the same working board, when I try to load the debugger, it gives me "Failed to find communication speed" error.
I even tried running the unsecure command from the simulator menu which runs and at the very end, it fails saying the " The Derivative could not be unsecured".

So, any ideas whether my chip has gone bad or is there anything else I can still try out.

with regards,
Lak

That message about communications speed usually pops up when there's no contact with the board. Usually you'll get a dialog pop up that asks you to choose the interface, and defaults to the parallel port. Can you see if the USB port is on the list of choices? If not, check that:

1) The USB cable is securely plugged into both connectors
2) That the the LEDs on the interface module (or board) have lit up.
3) Windows XP will give you an alert tone when it recognizes a USB device. Did this happen?

What changed on the system since the last time it was used for a debug session?

Hi,
I could get the chip unsecured.
There was some voltage fluctuations on my target board and probably that was not allowing.
I hooked up to a flash gordon box and unsecured the chip.
Later, I am able to load the code.
thanks for the help.
