Updates for old versions? CodeWarrior 5 IDE

I have an old  versions of CodeWarrior I  bought when I took a programming class about 8 or 9 years ago. I have it installed on my new laptop, but was wondering if there are any updates to install?

I could not find any that seemed to fit my version on the downloads page.

I have Codewarrior 5 IDE, and it came with a CD with the version 5.3 update.

Now, I bought this from Metrowerks,  before Freescale.

Any updates I need to install?

Hello

- Which CPU are you targeting (HC08, HC12, Coldfire, ..)
- Which version of CodeWarrior are you using?
To retrieve that info:
- Start CodeWarrior
- Select Help -> About Freescale CodeWarrior
- Click on "Install Products"
- CodeWarrior version used is displayed on top in the Installed Products dialog.

1) It targets NO processor. The product was sold as a general C and C++ compiler for the PC, not an individual processor.

2) The Version is 5.3 Pro.

I bought the product before Motorola bought Metrowerks in 1998. It predates the specialization to embedded software.

It still worked fine on my XP machine, but it freezes on my Vista machine. It loads and will run the example code fine, but when I try to create a new project, it freezes, and the Task Manager says it is waiting for a responce from me.

This is what I am trying to solve, I thought an update might help.

Just a guess, but have you made sure that all the directories that CW tries to access have permissions set so that software can write and modify?

Actually, I didn't think you could get it installed in the first place on Vista.

OK, I got home and booted up the laptop, and here is what I got from the ABOUT page...

Version 4.0.4
Build 0486

From the Help button, it brings up About Metrowerks, and there is no button for Installed Products.
I think this is the only product.

I hope you can help

Hello

Freescale no longer sell or support CodeWarrior for windows software.
You can use the version you currently have as is, but you will not be able to get an update for it.
