Does really a HC98AZ60 exist; I thougth it just was a typo and that it should be HC908AZ60? The XC-prefix usually did mean that it was some pre-production batch, and was replaced with MC when the part was fully released.

Hi Sten,
As far as the chip is concerned the ones I am looking at are marked XC68HC98AZ60, although as you are indicating that it may have been a pre-production batch maybe it was renamed to the HC908AZ. I ordered a programmer and will see if the HC98AZ60 programs the same as the HC908AZ. Will let you know.
Still on the hunt for the HC98AZ datasheet just in case.
Regards,
Michael

Thanks to everyone who's contacted me about this datasheet over the last 2 years.
After a HDD crash I no longer have this datasheet. The part number is also MC68HC908AZ60CFU8 and has been moved into Freescale's archive. Please submit a service request at www.freescale.com/support and request the datasheet.
