Hello Everyone,

I have few finished boards with MC9S08 microcontrollers ready to be encased; however, there is a last minute update. The former programmer ask me to acquire a Freescale MCU Programming Kit in order to have the embedded code updated. There is a USB port ready for that purpose.

Since you have a bunch of kits, what Programming Kit do I need?

Thanks

hi agustin.

you can use either BDM multilinik cable or Cyclone Pro for programming,.

here is BDM Multilink cable:

Cyclone Pro is recommended for both development and production, while the Multilink cables are recommended only for development. This is the link for cyclone PRO. We can see it in below link:

http://www.pemicro.com/products/product_viewDetails.cfm?product_id=1&menu_id=details&CFID=1605153&CF...

hope this helps!

Hello Jennie,

Thanks for your quick response. I see these tools connect to the board using the standard 6-pin connector (berg). However, there is no such pins on my boards, just a USB port. Is there any other way to program this MC9S08 MCU?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Jennie,

We are actually looking into get a Universal Multilink Development Interface (http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=UMultilink&fsrch=1) to program our MC9S08 MCUs. Would that work?

Also, I realized the design doesn't include BDM pins but rather contacts to do the programming.

yes, UMultilink can support MC9S08 MCUs too, besides, UMultilink can also support HC(S)12(X), ColdFire V1/ColdFire+ V1, ColdFire V2-4, Qorivva MPC55xx/56xx, and Kinetis.
