Hello

To debug, using JTAG, it is needed to enter special boot mode (Wait JTAG
connection).  In this boot mode (6), the boot ROM enables the JTAG pins, waiting

(in infinite loop) for the debugger to release it.

Have a great day,
Yuri

Hello,

Basically any JTAG tool, supporting ARM926 may be applied with i.MX28.

Please refer to the following regarding recommended tools :

i.MX286 Processors|Dual CAN|NXP

The following may be helpful :

All Boards JTAG

ARM has tested the i.MX28 EVK board and even has a specific drop down for it in

DS-5 tools.

The new JTAG and Trace unit is called DSTREAM. Information on it can be found at

DSTREAM – ARM Developer

DS-5 is the new development environment for Linux and bare metal development.

Information on it can be found at

DS-5 Development Studio – ARM Developer

Also IAR may be considered.

IAR Embedded Workbench

Regards,

Yuri.
