Mentioned also on: http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=13645#13645

Basically, the new port is built with -mfloat-abi=hard, and tuned for armv7-a cpus. Should offer substantially better performance than both Debian's armel port but also than Ubuntu's armel port (as this one is softfp only). We're moving quite fast and are up to 100 packages already -the fact that we already have a hardfp karmic port helps greatly!

Can You Please explain the basic advantage of using armhf apart from that mentioned in here at the link http://wiki.debian.org/ArmHardFloatPort.

Is it just a usual Debian Kernel or what else?

All info posted to debian-arm list: http://lists.debian.org/debian-arm/2010/08/msg00008.html For the impatient, here is the repo: deb http://freevec.org/repository main and a small tarball (no gui, no kernel/modules yet)http://freevec.org/repository/images/armhf-unstable-main.tar.lzmamd5sum: 6c473e570daccd5f622c95419fe2aa62 More packages are being added all the time and soon we'll have the first debian-armhf autobuilder! Stay tuned!
