After I searched posts related to this topic, I have some questions:

(1)Does the MIPI CSI VIRTUAL CHANNEL feature supported by I.MX8Q/8M or not on the newest silicon? which part do you recommend for us?

Our project will use a quad SERDES deserializer chip like DS90UB960, and this feature may be vital to us.

(2)What's the maximum frame rate if a 1080p YUV2 MIPI camera is attached to the MIPI-CSI inter#face of i.MX8?

In reference manual, information is  inconsistent. In section 13.1.1.1 Display overview, it is said that supporting 5M pixel @ 15fps and 1080p @ 30 fps. while in section 13.8.1.1 Features, it is said that providing 4K @ 30 fps.

Hi Yanping,

Yes i.MX8QM silicon B0 and i.MX8QXP C0 silicon support virtual channels.
From MIPI-CSI specification, it supports up to 1.5Gbps data rate in high speed mode per lane, providing 4K@30fps.
If you have 1080p camera at 30 fps rate that should be ok.

Hi Lenka Polaskova,

Is there a document that describes the Virtual Channel in i.MX8 QM/QXP?
For example, I have found this document for i.MX6, AN5305.pdf.

Thanks

Hi Gabriel,

I didn't find any public document describing this. Perhaps it is not available yet.

Best regards,

Lenka

Thanks for your reply.

In our project,we may have 4x 1080p YUV2 @ 30fps camera sensors input to i.MX8QM via quad deserializer hub DS90UB960.

Is it OK for i.MX8QM?

Hi,

we have similar use-case where we use 4x OV10635 camera via MAX9286 deserializer and no problem was detected. So I think it should be ok.

Hello,

  OV10635 is 720p HD, how about 1080p? May MX8QM support 4* 1080p @30fps camera inputs?

From MIPI-CSI specification, it supports high speed mode(80Mbps - 1.5Gbps) per lane, providing 4K@30fps capability for the 4 lanes. Is there ang case for that in practic or just in theory, and what's the design margin?
