Hi,

Referring to the latest RPA " MX8M_Mini_DDR4_RPA_v14.xlsx" posted by NXP

According to revision table the CL setting (F28) for MT40A512M16LY-075:E has been updated to be in line with the datasheet and set to 17.

However in the datasheet of Micron P/N: MT40A512M16LY-075:E Table 1 for 075:E speed grade the CL value is 18

Can you please explain the reason for the difference?

I wish to use Samsung P/N: K4A8G165WC-BCTD

it seems from datasheet Table 2 that CL=19 but this value is not an option in F28 drop down menu

Thank you for your support,

Aviad

Hi,

Referring to Micron device, can you please explain your deduction of CL=17, is it according to speed grade -083 "READ CL: non-DBI"?

For that matter, why is that preferred over -083E, -083D corresponding values 16/18?

Thank you,

Aviad

Hello,

The Excel table (aid tool) comments parameter READ Latency (CL)
as following: "Please refer to the speed bin tables in the device
data sheet for CL settings that are supported for the chosen data
rate/clock cycle."

The CL = 17 is taken from Table 158(DDR4-2400 Speed Bins and
Operating Conditions) of the memory Datasheet. Note: value CL=18
also is possible and may be considered as more "safe".

Regards,
Yuri.

Hi,

The -075E ending of Micron P/N implies that speed grade is DDR4-2666 (See Table 1)

To my understanding "Table 159: DDR4-2666" is the corresponding table.1.png

Therefore my question is

1. Which is correct value for NXP Micron P/N: MT40A512M16LY-075:E

2. Which is correct value for Samsung P/N:  K4A8G165WC-BCTD ? Would 18 which is the max value in RPA tool be OK?

Thank you for your support,

Hello,

   1) It makes sense to use  timing parameters for the working memory frequency (DDR4-2400),
but not for max  frequency (DDR4-2666).
  2) As for the Samsung device - please consult with them for assurance.

Regards,
Yuri.

Hi,

I apologize but the answer is not clear.

Can you please explain based on table 158 how this value was chosen, what cell in specific and why? if the value was selected arbitrarily and just tested please notify as well. This is required in order to be able to select correctly value for Samsung device.

Thank you for your support

@aviad_h

You may select more "safe" value CL=18 (comparing with 17) and check it,
using the Stress memory test. If all is OK and there is - at least theoretical -
option CL=17 - why do not try and test it.
