LDO-bypass mode vs LDO-enable mode

Hi All,

I was wondering how to choose between these 2 modes in a design using the PF0100 PMIC.

Indeed i don't see what are the benefits to run in LDO-bypass except to reduce power dissipation inside the iMX6.

On the other hand i read in the AN4724 : Longer power-on-hours can be achieved using LDO-enabled mode

Please help me to understand.

Greg

HI gregory

for description please look at sect.4.1.2 Linux kernel image and device tree

attached Linux Guide from L3.14.28_1.0.0_iMX6QDLS_BUNDLE

Purpose of ldo bypas is to reduce overal power consumption and heating

of processor, this is very important in portable applications.

In ldo bypas one needs to control PMIC for using Dynamic Bus Frequency and

CPU Frequency Scaling (CPUFREQ) Driver. This is described in Linux

Manual Chapter 24,25.

Best regards

igor
