I am using a JN5168-001-U00 as a sniffer front end, programmed with JennicSniffer_JN5168_1000000_HP.bin firmware, to capture Zigbee traffic. This is being used with a bespoke host application to store the data once passed over the USB connection. This data is then post processed and imported into Ubilogix Ubiqua as an offline capture.
My question is this:
Does the JennicSniffer firmware discard any frames which don't pass the MAC-level FCS check? Or does it capture them to be dealt with by whatever is parsing and rendering the protocol analysis?
Do we need to take care of discarding frames with failed FCS ourselves, or can we rely on the JennicSniffer front-end firmware to do that?
Hi Clive,
Ideally, sniffer would not perform FCS checking. It just sniffs and displays packets.
For a better performance for your application. I recommend taking care of this.
