Hi,
we are building a product with Coral SoM board which uses iMX 8M SoC and we run into some problems with Wi-Fi connectivity as we could not avoid obstructing the antenna area with metal.
We noticed that the build-in antennas are most like exposed via J1301 and J1302 coax connectors (most likely SWJ or SWH https://www.murata.com/-/media/webrenewal/support/library/catalog/products/switch/switch/o30e.ashx?l... ) as is specified in MCIMX8M-EVK schematics (a similar SoM).
question: Is it possible to connect an external antenna through these connectors? If that is the case can you guide us towards a compatible option for Wi-Fi 2.3/5 GHz bands?
Thank you!
Adam
Hello,
Yes, an external antenna can be connected through SMA connector, and it will be necessary to check with a distributor for that external antenna which normally is in the range of 50 Ohms.
Have a nice day!

Ivan.
