How to understand "ADC1a"&&"ADC1b"?

I took these pictures from manual MC33774A,

The ADC1a and ADC1b are separate ADCs? 

if yes,why not named "ADC1" and "ADC2"?

Hello,

Yes, ADC1A and ADC1B are two separate hybrid ADCs. They are part of the primary measurement chain.

Then there is another independent secondary measurement chain consisting of ADC2A and ADC2B.

This architecture was chosen and implemented to satisfy the redundancy required for supporting the highest integrity level ASIL D.
