Help with Motorola MJ10048 Darlington Transistor

I would like to know if the following Microsemi Zener Diode 1N3326B is suitable for driving the Motorola MJ10048 Darlington Transistor in a basic high current voltage regulator circuit. Which is needed to maintain a supply voltage under 40v when the incoming voltage is 44v.

If anyone could please respond to this ASAP, as this is a bit of an emergency case !!.

Most of that Motorola product line became On-Semiconductor in 1998 and never was part of Freescale, not sure about that part specifically. That part is no longer on the On-semi website though. You might contact them, or try hobbyist electronics forums.
