White box switches are network switches that are sold independent of the software that will run on them. Open Network Linux (ONL) is used as the basis for the "network operating systems" that run on the switches. Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) is used to create the software used to install the networking operation system onto the switch. This presentation highlights NXP's involvement in ONL/ONIE on the QorIQ P2041 and QorIQ T2080 platforms as well as the roadmap for LS2085. This session will expand on NXP's approach to ONL/ONIE and the white box market. Watch Video Presentation

This technical session provides an overview of the i.MX 6UltraLite MMDC (DDR Controller), the DDR tools used for DDR testing and board bring-up, and hardware considerations for DDR board designs. Attendees should be familiar with the MMDC from previous i.MX 6 series processors, specifically the i.MX 6SoloX. The session covers the differences in the MMDC between the i.MX 6UltraLite and its predecessor, the i.MX 6SoloX applications processor. The first half covers the tool offerings used to assist the user with bringing-up and testing a new DDR interface: i.MX 6UltraLite DRAM Register Programming Aid tool and the DDR Stress Test. The second half of the session covers hardware considerations board designers should follow for DDR board designs.

Though cryptographic algorithms like AES are crypto-analytically secure, real implementations must at least be tested against logical attacks such as API misuse. Smart cards and similar devices also face fault and side channel attacks. Such attacks exploit physical effects to manipulate the device or learn about secret information. As these attacks are very critical, customers in the smart card industry ask for third party evaluation (e.g. Common Criteria or EMVCo) to confirm high assurance levels. If passed, a certificate is issued by a trusted party. With the rise of the IoT, physical attacks and respective third-party witnessing of resistance might soon be relevant there as well. As connected edge devices gain momentum with consumers, the security approaches and assumptions of the past will fail and create new threats and vulnerabilities to consumer safety and privacy. Additionally, the cost for security in mobile phones, tablets, and PCs will present a challenge for applications such as occupant sensors and heart rate monitoring patches. Lastly, the teams of security experts in connected industries do not yet exist at suppliers who are connecting products to the network. Join this session to learn how industries are providing cost effective, highly secure, certified hardware that can hasten the learning cycle for emerging edge node applications, bring solutions for security, drive down costs, and limit the supplier specific required expertise.

The I2C bus has expanded from its humble beginnings in 1980s home electronics to both small and large scale systems in the modern world. Applications range from Smartphones to Server farms, and while they're true to the original simple signaling protocol other I2C bus components are needed to expand, adapt or buffer those signals. We take an in depth technical look at the simple Bus Buffer. Often needed, and seldom understood. Watch Video Presentation

While many look for hypervisor based solutions when separating multiple operating systems running on multiple cores in the new embedded devices from NXP, an easier solution is often overlooked. This session will describe ARM TrustZone as a technology currently found in the ARM Cortex A family of the devices, but being introduced by ARM in other variants. A few use cases will be presented - these include secure gateway on a Layerscape LS1021 device, and an automotive instrument cluster on an i.MX6 dual core device.
