I have MCAL drivers for MPC560 and MPC563 microcontrollers (AUTOSAR 3.0 and 4.0). Can we use them to write MCAL drivers for SPC560 and SPC563 microcontrollers?

Hello,

Definitely you can develop for your own the AUTOSAR MCAL drivers in a NXP microcontroller. It's not mandatory to purchase the NXP AUTOSAR MCAL.

You can figure out the portfolio of our AUTOSAR MCAL here: https://www.nxp.com/design/automotive-software-and-tools/autosar:AUTOSAR-HOME

Best Regards,

Nam

Hello @DariushTsh

If you're asking about the SPC560/SPC563 microcontrollers which are listed out here: https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/power-architecture/mpc5xxx-microcontrol... and here: https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/power-architecture/mpc5xxx-microcontrol...
Then the answer is yes, you can use the MCAL drivers for MPC560/MPC563 in those products.

What MCAL drivers of NXP microcontrollers can be used for SPC563M64L5 microcontroller (of ST)?

Unfortunately, there isn't any NXP MCAL drivers can be used for an ST microcontroller.

Because SPC and MPC have a common architecture, can't use each other's MCAL drivers?

But you said in this post, this is possible.

Hello,

I'm afraid you have a misunderstood. What I meant is the SPC microcontroller from NXP, not ST. Please carefully read the whole comment and check the link that I have provided, which listed out only NXP products, and not any product from ST.

I'm confused.
Did I get it right ??? MPC microcontrollers can (of NXP) be used instead of SPC (of ST), but MCAL drivers of MPC microcontrollers (of NXP) can not be used for SPC microcontrollers (of ST) . Is it correct???

Hello,

If you want to integrate the NXP MCAL driver into a ST microcontroller, then you need to use with your own risks. Although the hardware might be equivalent between these two microcontrollers, it remains the fact that the NXP MCAL is only verified with NXP microcontrollers, and we can't guarantee that there wouldn't be any issue when integrating a NXP MCAL software into a ST microcontroller, or whichever another company's microcontroller.

I have a general question.

Can MCAL drivers be prepared and written by software engineers and programmers at all or must they be purchased ???

Please explain about MCAL drivers and their standard
