I2C protocol in lpc4330

Hi guys,
  In lpc4330 platform, im writing a I2C driver. In I2C base address there is a register called CONSET register which contains I2EN bit, which is for enabling the I2C interface.

My doubt is enabling I2C interface means whether enabling I2C hardware protocol or not?

Yes,setting this bit will enable the I2C hardware interface.
