Hi

We want to use RT1061 development Industrial control IO input-output device.

Application diagram:

RT1061 dual Ethernet.jpg

Please help to confirm the following questions:

1、RT1061's Eth0 route to Eth1  directly do data forwarding. How fast is the throughput rate?

2、RT1061's Eth0 to Eth1 do data forwarding. How long delay time?    Is it support Cutthought mode?

3、RT1061' Ethernet reciver data : Does the MCU begin processing after the entire packet is received, or does it start processing the data byte by byte from the beginning?

Hi Join,

First of all, thanks for your patience.

I got the feedback from RT product team with below comments:

Now I don't have detail data on hands.

and for question 3, MCU may start process the data after receiving one whole data frame, instead of data byte by byte.

and for throughput performance, it is also related to data size for one frame, as you know, one ethernet frame also contains some extra information(say preamble,SFD,address and others).

In theory, the delay is smaller, it just need to take a little time to inform ENT1 to transmit data when ENT0 receive one frame data, ethernet controller can control and complete data transfer and don't need MCU interference, so the totally delay is one frame transferring time plus interrupt latency and some instructions of informing the other ENT transmitting.

so the data depend on customer's use case.

Wish it helps.
Have a great day,
Mike

Hi Hui:

Thanks for your support.

We already realized "RT1061's Eth0 route to Eth1  directly do data forwarding".

But Eth1 only received it MAC data, other MAC data could not be received.  Could you please confirm this function can be realized on the software?

Hi Join,

First of all, sorry for the delay.

From previous communication, my understanding is ETH1 is Ethernet data transmitter.

When ETH0 receive the Ethernet data frame, which will notify ETH1 to send received data frame out to another board.

The Ethernet data frame buffer can be accessed by both ETH0 and ETH1.

best regards,

Mike
