Question for connecting JTAG Debug to the RT1040-EVK (with MIMXRT1042XJM5B). The EVK user manual says need to remove the J9 and J10 jumpers, which I have done, but I have not been able to connect via JTAG.
I see that the schematic for the EVK mentions “Board rework and fuse programming are needed to support JTAG debug”. Is this true? It is not mentioned in EVK user manual. If needed, what is the exact Board rework needed?

Hello frank9,
I’m not sure about JTAG-Mode as it is also not working here (with Segger J-Link), but SWD is working fine. Have you been able to connect via SWD? This should work, but you must remove Jumper J3, J4, J9, J10 and J80.
The Onboard Freelink Interface should also work with SWD (do not forget to put the Jumpers J3, J4, J9, J10 back. J80 still needs to be open).
If you really need the JTAG mode, have a look at the fusemap chapter in the reference manual. With the DAP_SJC_SWD_SEL fuse you seem to be able to change the mode from SWD to JTAG.
Best Regards
Markus
