The i.MX53 Quick Start board is a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 embedded computer in a three-inch by three-inch board. Offered for $149.00, this development board offers 1GB of RAM, Freescale MC34708 PMIC, and ships with Linux Ubuntu out of the box!

I am curious to know if the i.MX53 quick start board is intended for prototype development only, or if this board is actually intended by Freescale to be embedded into finished products by OEM manufacturers?   Can you provide any information on the number of these parts sold each month and if there are any case studies of these boards being used as single board computers in finished products.   Thanks

Hi, I have a question.

I would like to use i.MX537.

The i.MX53 quick start board has i.MX535 not i.MX537.

Can I use softwares in i.MX53 quick start board for i.MX537.

Your advice would be highly appreciated.

Hello Rainier, We've notified the right people and it looks like they are going to send a DVD to you.

I have received my iMX53 QSB. No DVD in the box, just a piece of paper telling you to download the software. Fine.

UBUNTU VM download. It's 3.4Gigs. I'm in South Africa on a 384K ADSL.

All but impossible. Server does not allow restarts - anything happens and you must start from scratch. Even worse, it seems to kick you out after 24 hours (I manage about 2Gigs in 24 hours).

Anybody out there that can give me a restartable download link or tell me what I am missing please ?

Right now I bought a useless development board...

Hi all.  FYI: Adeneo is offering its hands-on "Embedded Linux" training class using the iMX53 Quick Start Board from June 19-22 in Charlotte, NC.  I've never attended an Adeneo training course before, but from the companies I've reached out to they seem the most legit (we'll see).  Contact Mike Ruiz at mruiz@adeneo-embedded.com for more information.  Also see the course's website: http://www.adeneo-embedded.com/Training/Embedded-Linux (no idea why the June class isn't listed yet).  See you there!

Call for testers - Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin is nearing release.

If you are interested in helping test this new release of Ubuntu on the Quickstart, please go to http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/ and follow the instructions.  The image is under Ubuntu Desktop armhf+mx5.

Where can we find the Direct 3D Mobile Libraries/DLLs for WEC7 on i.mx53? It seems what is posted is not the correct/latest one. Has anyone else tried these out?

Hi, This presentation covers aspects of using security on the i.MX28 and i.MX53.  It was presented at last year's FTF and has recently been updated with more information. i.MX_TrustArchitecture_23Mar12.pdf

Hello Enaud,  The i.MX28 LCD should work with the i.MX53 Quick Start board Linux image with a few changes to the uboot commands. You will need a USB mouse and Keyboard.  The instructions should be in the Quick Start Guide that came with the board.   If you have the new board (MCIMX53-START-R), the instructions are here -on page 10 IMX53RQSB_Quick_Start_Guide.pdf

Hi all,

I'm able to work with iMX53 connected to my PC via serial cable.

Now, I received the LCD MCIMX28LCD but I'm completely ignorant in this field ..

There is a guide that explains step by step how to start with the LCD

There is a demo to be run quickly on the LCD

thanks

GuruCE has developed a full-featured high performance Windows Embedded CE/Compact 7 driver for the FlexCAN module found in the Freescale iMX25, iMX28, iMX35 and iMX53 processors. The GuruCE High Performance FlexCAN driver is the fastest and most feature rich CAN driver available for the Freescale iMX processors. The driver supports every feature offered by the FlexCAN module (including hardware frame filters) and has been tested to receive more than 500 CAN frames per second without dropping any! @Jim Elliott - I've found that google advanced search is the best search option so far.  In the google search bar, you can type "site:imxcommunity.org SDIO" or any other related tags instead of SDIO and it will present all the forums with that keyword.  I hope this helps!  And yes, the discussion forums are the best to keep subjects organized.

@Jim Elliott and others,
Please do not use the "Comment Wall", instead "Add a Discussion" in the relevant group...
This will keep responses together. Thanks.

Is there a way we can get a real forum format installed for this page? The current format sucks big time. Trying to search for stuff is a hassle and this information could use some better organization.   ..just sayin'
