We're using a custom i.MX6ULL board that is supposed to boot from eMMC.
We require HAB (High Assurance Boot) and SS (Spread Spectrum). Currently we use
u-boot spl and u-boot proper. Currently u-boot spl is how we enable SS.
I wonder whether we really need u-boot SPL.
We're told HAB and SS can be supported with the plugin boot method, as explained here:

Does i.MX6ULL support this fast authentication method (HABv4.1.2) ?
If yes, this means I don't need u-boot SPL to safely use HAB and SS to
boot from eMMC (with 2MB boot0/boot1 partition) or am I missing something ?
Is there any limitation or disadvantage in using this fast authentication method or
the "Plugin-mode-HAB-High-Assurance-Boot method" in general ?
