MX8_DSI_OLED1 won't show anything

Hi, I bought NXP iMX8M-mini evaluation board with MX8_DSI_OLED1 and the display shows nothing when I connect it to the board. If I use IMX-MIPI-HDMI converter and connect it to external HDMI display, it works fine.
I tested Test points: TP4, TP5, TP6 (all good ground):
  • TP7 => 4.87v
  • TP8 => 3.31v
  • TP9 => 1.81v
  • TP10 => 0v
  • TP11 => 0v
  • TP12 => 0v
  • OLED_EN => 0v

It looks like the display is not being enabled, so the EL_VDD, EL_VSS, and VSP voltages are not being output from the TPS65651 chip.
How do I troubleshoot MX8_DSI_OLED1 display?

Hello,

Please note that for the MIPI panel to be tested with our demo image you'll need to select the correct device tree:

Android

dtbo-imx8mm-mipi-panel.img

Linux

Image-fsl-imx8mm-evk-rm67191.dtb                 * LPDDR4 EVK

Image-fsl-imx8mm-ddr4-evk-rm67191.dtb         * DDR4 EVK

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Aldo.

Thank you for this suggestion, but how do I do that?

I am trying to run default Android OS that was on microSD with the kit and I tried the following commands (found them in OLED1 manual):

U-Boot > setenv fdt_file dtbo-imx8mm-mipi-panel.img

U-Boot > run bootcmd

But it won't change anything.

Hello,

You'll need to reflash one of our android releases, you may find them here:

https://www.nxp.com/design/i.mx-developer-resources/i.mx-software-and-development-tools:IMX-SW

Please follow the guide Android_Quick_Start_Guide.pdf, I'll attach here the android_p9.0.0_2.0.0-ga one here, you'll find an step by step on how to flash the demo image in section 3.3 Flashing board images.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Aldo.
