MCIMX6ULL-EVK - Simple Boot Question

Guys,

Sorry, I am new to the i.MX line of application processors. So, I ordered a iMX6 eval board to get acquainted. I have quite a bit of experience with the Freescale ARM processor line.

I have the evaluation unit connected via USB and I am seeing the u-boot processor bootloader (at least that is what I think I am seeing).

This is all I see:

I expected to see Linux loading. The SD card is installed and switch settings are as instructed in the Quick Start Guide, SW602 - D1:ON, D2: OFF, SW601 - D1:OFF, D2: OFF, D3:ON, D4:OFF.  I have reloaded the SD card multiple times to verify that the SD card is loaded properly.

I do not have the LCD option.

Do you have any suggestions as to why this board is not booting Linux?

Thank you.

Phil

The problem was that the SD Card was not configured properly. Re-imaging the SD Card resolved the problem and Linux fired up and run right away.

This was a same problem with my previous post with a different evaluation board: https://community.nxp.com/t5/i-MX-Processors/MCIMX6ULL-EVK-Not-Working/td-p/1224277

Both problems, with two different EVK systems, ended up being the same problem. SD Card not being programmed properly.

Hi Phil

one can look at official software web page

https://www.nxp.com/design/software/embedded-software/i-mx-software/embedded-linux-for-i-mx-applicat...

Use "Demo Image" with documentation, like Linux Guide pay attention to sect.

4.3.2 Copying the full SD card image i.MX Linux User’s Guide

Igor,

Are you suggesting that the SD card is no good or is non-functional?

Hi Phil

yes SD may be corrupted so one can flash Demo Images. If uboot is available

one can try sect.4.7.6 Running Linux OS from MMC/SD  i.MX Linux Reference Manual

All linux documentation :

I already returned one EVK because tech support thought the SD Card was bad. Not a good sign.

Igor,

I am using the SD card that came with the EVK. Shouldn't it automatically load Linux?  Should the boot up sequence be visible in the UART-USB interface?  Right now, the UART-USB interface only shows the u-boot sequence.

Regards,

Phil
