Can anyone mention the steps required to intitialize the flextimer for quadrature decoder mode in imx7?

I am trying to go through the initialization procedure that is given in the reference manual for imx7. Can someone help with the sequence in which the registers need to be initialized to run the flextimer in quadrature decoder mode? Also when do I need to write protection disable in FTMx_MODE?

It have enable automatically in your linux BSP: CONFIG_PWM_FSL_FTM=y
