Bluetooth SIG Certification for iw612

Hi all,

We are considering using a Wi-Fi+Bluetooth module with iw612.
I am looking for information on how to get Bluetooth SIG certification.

I have found that IW612 has component certifications such as RF-PHY and HCI (see below URL)

https://launchstudio.bluetooth.com/ListingDetails/155070

Our system is Linux, does NXP provide a certified protocol stack for Linux? Or are you prepared to provide one?

Are the following available in our configuration?

Best Regards,

Yukio Oyama

Dear @YukioOyama

I asked details on the host OS, because we do not provide the same BT stack, depending on host OS.

For i.MX8/Linux, we use BlueZ open source BT stack.

For i.MX RT / FreeRT OS, we use Edgefast BT stack.

By default, we don’t commit Linux/BlueZ BT certification to customers. You will have to take care of that.

Regards,

Olivier

Dear Oyama-san

IW612 is BT certified as a Component (QDID 189068)

This means we pass the certification at HCI level (using our NXP proprietary labtool application).

If I am correct, we do not pass certification on any Linux bluetooth stack (Host component)

We provide Linux BSPs for our i.MX processors, which includes BlueZ open source stack, as a reference.

Hello ocourson-san,

From your reply, I understand that there is no Bluetooth SIG certified protocol stack in IW612.

Do you have any plans to get Bluetooth SIG certification on protocol stacks that can be used for IW612 in the future?

If there is a protocol stack that is getting ready for certification I would wait for it. However, if there are no plans for certification, then I must begin preparing to obtain certification myself.

Dear @YukioOyama

Before I can answer to your questions, could you please confirm which host CPU you are using. Is it an NXP i.MX or LS ?

Olivier

Hello Olivier-san,

Our host CPU is the i.MX8QM.

How does the host CPU relate to your Bluetooth SIG certification in the protocol stack?

Do some host CPUs have a Bluetooth SIG certified protocol stack?

Or are you trying to clarify the differences in the OS that different host CPUs can run?

If you are looking for the possibility to offer a certified protocol stack, we will spare no expense in providing our information!

Best Regards,

Yukio Oyama

Hello Olivier-san,

I understood that you are not Linux/BlueZ certified.

I will start looking into getting myself a Bluetooth certification for Linux/BlueZ.

I have no plans to change BlueZ, but are you certified in Edgefast?

Yukio Oyama

Dear @YukioOyama

The RT platform Edgefast BT stack has not been certified.
