Safety measure SM_041 specifies the need of external monitoring (e.g. watchdog or comm) to be able to reach ASIL-B levels.

What about for a ASIL-A level design - is external monitoring still mandatory for S32K11x?

Hi Adrian

As discussed over email, external monitoring is required but you don't need to have a specific hardware implementation for it. The text below the assumption describes that "periodic external communication involving the execution core on MCU can serve the purpose of external monitoring". The assumption is important to ensure the case where MCU is no longer responding and is unable to go into safe state. This monitoring ensures that system will still go into safe state.
