Difference between ASILs

Hello Safety team,

Will we have somewhere a table of what each of the ASIL should have?

For example in the Safety Manual of S32k1XX mention for safety, you need to use a redundant watchdog system, and for that, you need to use an External Watchdog and have a monitor but this is applicable for ASIL B or also ASIL A.

Thanks

Oscar Hinojosa.

Hi Oscar

I don't think we can have such a table as the ASIL x is dependent on application usecase in Safety Manual. We do provide dynamic FMEDA with some capability of changing the target ASIL and meet the random fault metric by selecting appropriate safety mechanism.

However, the selection of the right safety mechanisms is safety analysis of the application and implementation at system level.

The WDOG is an important mechanism to avoid dependent failures and the Safety Manual advises on the kind of failures it is covering as well as guidelines on different ways to implement it (for example, any monitor that can cover for loss of communication with microcontroller).

Hope this helps,

Regards
