Question about initialization in 3-phase Sensorless BLDC

I use MC9S12ZVML128_BLDC_Sensorless example project.

Why set the duty to 50% at initialization?

Hello, could you please check out the new software package on the web? 3-phase Sensorless BLDC Development Kit|NXP  I believe the 50% duty-cycle initial setting is not presented there.

However, if the switching strategy is a bi-polar switching, then it would be a good idea to set a neutral duty-cycle at the very start.
