Why are the e5500/e6500 PowerPC processors not supported in Open Firmware/OpenBIOS?

First I thought OpenBIOS is processor independent and tested various PowerPC processors made by NXP/Freescale in QEMU. I figured out that PowerPC processors after the MPC7448 can't boot OpenBIOS.

I researched and found nothing that explains this issue.

So I hope anyone here can help me.

Open Firmware is primarily targeted at laptops and workstations while
NXP embedded PowerPC cores are mailny for embedded systems where the requirements are
different and not all functionality of OFW is actually necessary. There is, however,
support for a subset of OFW specification, namely Device Tree. This is sufficient
to run  QEMU  on a e5500 or e6500 based host, emulating a Power Architecture Book E

Virtual CPU. More information on  QEMU support in NXP QorIQ SDK can be found in the

SDK online documentation.

Hope this helps

Is there any possibility to port Open Firmware?

There are multiple implementations of OFW, commercial and free, none of them is owned or supported by NXP.

Consult at the vendor of the implementation of your interest for porting.
