I am trying to get the MFRC522 to work with an Atsam3s1b using SPI comms. I have some software in C but can't get meaning read data

I  have software which is AVR based in GNU C  but I can't get it to work with my SPI comms. I am not sure if my spi clk polarity is correct and my Spi phase . The software I have is for an 8 bit device my controller is 16 bits
