I have M68MMPFB0508 ... Modular Evaluation System & I am looking for Emulator Module PART NUMBER to emulate MC68HC705C8A, MC68HC705C9A . It may have been discontinued but I may find it. And my another concern is if it can program DIP 40 microcontroller packages, And what else I need (PART NUMBER(S) ) to do so. Thanks in advance for help.

Dear LL,

If you only need to program the HC705 parts, there is a built-in self-programming algorithm in these parts. I'v e appended App note AN966 wich tells you how to do it.  Of course you'll need a legacy eprom programmer or eprom emulator.

BTW I keep all this legacy tools to upgrade/support old designs from my customers. For HC05 family I keep a CDS8 "jewel box" an EVM and some JICS boards. And of course a WIN95 camputer to run this stuff.

Cheers,

Celso

First of all Thanks for all valuable information ROCCO. I tried to find that part but its really a hard find, But I will keep trying. In the mean time I may stick with my old M68ICS08GPGT. If I find any source I will let you know. I will ask for help again.

Thanks again

Hi Letslearn, and welcome.

First, I must warn you that what you are looking for will be hard to find. Ever since Freescale stopped manufacturing them, I have been searching for backup parts to no avail. If you do find a source for any MMEVS or MMDS components, please let me know.

The Emulation Module that I have for the HC05Cn family has a part number of M68EM05CD on the PCB, and M68EM05C9 on the manual. It will emulate all of the Cn family, including the C2, C3,C4, C8 and C9, as well as the A versions C4A, C8A, C9A and C12A. You will also need target cables and adapters, depending on which package you are emulating. I believe these are still available from Freescale.

Although the MMEVS is great for developing and debugging your application, it does not help at all for programming the part. You will need an additional programmer. I originally used the HC705PGMR board for programming, but its software could not program the added features of the A-suffix parts. So I later bought the M68HC705CICS board, which is actually much nicer. I don't know if it is still manufactured.

Hope that helps. Let me know how you make out.

Dear rocco,
I have in my hands a "M68HC705CICS board" but... unfortunately do NOT have any other aid or information on this.
I only have the instrument and feeding in his box but without programs or books accompany him.
It can you help me?
Any your information and files (programs, documentation, etc) my would be very useful.
I thank you!!!  John.

Enter "M68HC705" in the Enter Keyword search box at the upper right on this web page. It will turn up about six hits. None of these are on your specific board, unfortunately, but it looks like there is a datasheet in the batch that might help get you started.
