IMX RT 1024: FlexSPI DQS pin mandatory to float?

We have a question regarding the FlexSPI DQS pin for the 1024 to run flash on a frequency of 133 MHz.

In this answer we read that it is "highly recommended" to leave the DQS pin floating.

Can you please explain:

- should it only float when connected to external flash? Thus, if connected to the internal flash in a 1024 "second die", must DQS then still float?

- what if we don't, what is the risk?

Hello
I hope you are well.

It is suggested to float DQS so you can use the flash at max specified speed. If using 1024 which has a SoC flash it is still suggested to float that pin.
If you don’t float the pin then you will find a limit in operating frequency.

Best regards,
Omar
